Admissions Policy
To apply for a school place at Coed-y-lan Primary, you will need to complete the application process available via the Rhondda Cynon Taff website.
You can do this by clicking this link.
Pre-Admission
Parents should contact the school to enrol their child for admission where they will receive the necessary forms to be submitted to the Local Authority. If any parent/guardian wishes to visit the school before finally selecting this school for their child, appointments may be made with the Headteacher.
Parents who live outside the Coed-y-lan catchment area who wish their child to attend this school (as is their right under parents’ choice of schools) must first contact the Headteacher before requesting permission from the Department of Education & Lifelong Learning Department of Education & Lifelong Learning, Ty Trevithick, Abercynon, CF45 4UQ. The request will be considered by the Governing Body before a decision is made. Parents have a right to appeal if the application is unsuccessful.
Admission Arrangements
All children who will reach their third birthday in the current school year are eligible for admission (having regard for the Policy Statement). Normally pupils will start on the term after their third birthday. In the term before the child is eligible to start we will contact you and arrange for you to visit the school with your child for a regular “link-up” afternoon so that your child can have a gradual introduction to routines and meet the staff.
